We are pleased to tell you that the Ofsted report for our NELTA initial teacher training provision has now been published on the Ofsted website https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/70317

NELTA teacher training provision has been judged Outstanding overall and in every category. Given that we only started delivery in September 2015 this is a significant achievement for us and also for our partnership schools. The quality of the work that goes on in our partnership schools was recognised in the report:

The quality of mentoring is strong and often outstanding.

Trainees are overwhelmingly positive about the quality of mentoring. They report that they receive good advice from their mentors and that this has helped them to develop their teaching practice and wider learning during the course.

Thank you all for your contribution to supporting NELTA teacher training, especially to the mentors who play such a critical role in the training process. Our thanks also go out to Professional Co-ordinating Mentors, members of the Strategic Board and Partnership Committee and to those schools who were visited by Ofsted during Stage 1 to see the trainees on placement or Stage 2 where our ex-trainees were seen as NQTs. Can we also thank all those colleagues that have supported our trainees by involvement in the selection process, delivering training sessions, toolkits, summer schools or extended study days.

A final thank you to our ex-trainees who supported us throughout the inspection and so impressed the inspection team.

We will continue to seek to improve our provision and so would welcome any thoughts you might have on strengthening the training that we offer.

Phil Bray, Principal NELTA
